Anonymous confessions
There are things you want to say that you cannot quite say out loud. A confession on NearYou lets you put it into your city's feed — visible to people nearby, attributed to no one. It is a gentle way to be heard without a spotlight.
How confessions work
Write a short message. Choose city-level visibility. Post. Other people in your city can react with "Same Mood" and send you an anonymous signal if your words resonate. Your identity is never shown on the public feed.
Why anonymity matters here
A confession is easier to write when no one will check it against your profile. We protect that by making sure the public feed exposes no author column at all — it is not a UI choice, it is a database guarantee.
Safety still matters
Anonymous does not mean unaccountable. Reports, blocks, and moderation still apply, and content that crosses community lines (harassment, threats, illegal content) can be hidden or removed. If you see something concerning, please report it — see our Support page.
From a confession to a conversation
If someone's confession moves you, you can send them an anonymous signal. They never see your name unless they choose to reveal the signal. If they do, a private conversation opens — only then.
